Sierra Vista Middle School Reviews

this school is somewhat good. its good in ways but bad in others. one way its good is that there are plenty of after school activities to do but then a bad thing is that they don't keep it very clean (for example the bathroom,or at least the girls one) and a good thing is that the teachers are good...so all in all the school is good.

this school is so awesome yea some of the teachers are a little naggy but hey there just doing there job.the things i really like about this school is that the teachers (even though sometimes naggy) are awesome they give you a chance to explain and thats what makes it awesome!

I think the quality of the academic programs are actually great. Most teachers are awesome. They do have several sports programs, quite extensive for middle school, from cross-country, track, volleyball, basketball, football, etc. I do have to agree that many parents are apathetic here. They just want to complain so they can feel important. However, the parents that actually volunteer, like myself, are supportive of the school.

This is an ok suburban school. My kid started in 7th grade 2005. We moved to Covina fm Los Angeles were most public schools are not that good however we attended the finest independent private school in LA which gave us the best start ever. I must say that 7th grade for my kid was a repeat of 6th grade with a little extra but not close to the what was being taught in vocabulary and library science type, at her grade school. I was sole on the Spanish program since my kid had been studying Spanish since kindergarten and was able to continue. The Music program is great. I think more social programs would make that community tops, hence higher test scores. My kid was a 4.0honors 2007 grad but I'm still concerned about vocabulary skills for SAT. If not for massive off site reading on our part.... An AfricanAmericanFamily.

Lacking sports programs? Football, volleyball, basketball, track, intra-mural softball, what more sports do people want for a middle school?

My child has been going here for 3 years, and I have been nothing but disappointed with the academics programs. I see children slipping through the cracks and nobody seems to care. I would personally like to see more sports offered and go on for a longer period of time, maybe that would help get our kids in better shape.

School overcrowded. Some teacher apathy. Some very good teachers. Limited language classes. Extracurricular activities extremely lacking. Need uniforms.

Above decent academic programs, excellent staff. Quite dirty and very crowded. Little to no extra-curricular activites, sports programs are less than decent.

Too crowded. Sports programs limited. Apparent teacher apathy.

This school is very okay, the principal, however, is outstanding, and the staff can do their job well, and the administration and staff can enforce saftey and dicipline like they should.

Our scores speak well for us, but pesonal experience means far more. For example, when I talk to the other teachers about what is going on in their classrooms, I've found that we all feel it is important to 'be on the same page' so students learn the material the state asks us to cover. We all have Email so that parents can contact us easily at all hours of the day, and we respond quickly to phone calls. When parents call anyone on staff, we do our best to treat each person individually according to what he or she needs. I've watched kids who have come to here from 'rougher' areas; they tend to mellow out after being on our campus, which I take as a sign that we have great kids along with great staff and parents.
