Gallatin Elementary School Reviews

Your absolutely right. It just seems so difficult to approach some staff members or even a PTA parent. Overall I am happy with my kids education. My kids love Gallatin and so do I. Gallatin's pros far more exceed the cons.

My children have been at Gallatin for all of grammar school and it is by far a great school. Although there does tend to be some 'political nonsense' involved at the school that makes the PTA seem cliquish and some of the staff unapproachable, most of the people associated with this school are here to help the students get the best education they can while having fun at the same time. As a single parent with limited income, I can relate to some of the previous comments regarding the excessive fundraising, but you should only do what you are comfortable doing and I do not feel bad when I don't participate. This school does not force you to get involved...they ask. We are proud to belong to Gallatin!

Gallatin is an excellent school. I am very happy with the academic program. Most teachers have many years of experience and are very open to questions and concerns parents may have. My son couldn't have had better teachers. Mrs. Reppert, Mrs. Amy and Mrs. Smith are great.

This is my first child in school and what a wonderful experience it has been. Parents who have the same goals for their children and worry about scores and academic advancement can be at ease. I have had nothing but a grand experience with the staff and the parents. I am very happy and cannot wait for my second child to start here at Gallatin as well.

I went to Gallatin my self and would not dream of sending my daughter to another school. The teachers are caring and when we went to back to school night were impressed with how many projects they do and that the student's truly enjoy doing them. Teachers work hard and I am pleased with my daughter's progress. One thing I do not like is way too much fund raising. Enough with the fund raising! Definitely a great place to send your kids.

Our daughter is near the end of her second year at this school. Overall I think the school has done well in the area of education. The teachers and principal(s) (there have been two different principals since our daughter started) are friendly. We were also happy with their 'character counts' program. The areas that need signficant improvement are extracurricular activities. There are also very few athletic activities offered. Additionally our daughter was on the honor roll for two years and we felt she needed additional challenge. When requested, no response other than the District has not reached this item on their agenda for the all the schools.

Overall, Gallatin is a good elementary school with a dedicated teaching staff. However, I completely agree with a previous comment (from August 2005). I think a more inclusive mindset that values thoughtful dissent would greatly benefit Gallatin's PTA.

The overall experience of Gallatin is good, but extracurricular activities are none and the response to requests are slow to none. It is public education and they do a good job overall.

I absolutely love this school. My son has been attending Gallatin for 3 years now. All his teachers, the principal, cafeteria staff and even the custodian staff are nice and extremely helpful. The teachers have always provided good, oslid lessons that challenge my son and make him want to go back to school the next day.

This is a great school, we have to move out from the city and my kids are very sad because they have to leave this school

Truly the best school in the area. The principal is approachable, the office staff is friendly and knowledgable, many, although not all, teachers are top rate. Parent involvment is high, but beware the PTA--it is cliqish. There are lots of cute activies thoughout the year--carnival, Spring dances and such--but too much focus on fund raising may make less affluent parents feel pressured or irritated (I know I do). I feel that academics at this school are strong and that the school is unique in expecting kids to be kids and not atomatons. One negative is that special needs support is seriously laking and the school is sluggish in responding to parent's requests for assessment or extra help for slower learners.
