Scott Avenue Elementary School Reviews

I have 3 kids @scott Ave they aer doing great the principal is great Mr grubbs is a wonderful teacher 2 of my kids had him and I cant wait for my 3rd to have him great school.

My child has been attending this school since kindergarten. I have found the teachers are very dedicated, will go above and beyond the expectations to teach and assist the children. Mrs. Ellefson has been a fantastic role model in my child's life and she has made a great difference in her learning skills. Principal Weiss has made it possible for the children to have the best learning experience and is doing a great job maintaining a wonderful teaching staff. Scott Avenue gets a A++ for their dedication and fantastic performance. Thank you

This school has some of potential. Unfortunately a lot of discipline issues go unaddressed and as a result safety is compromised and children are distracted from learning.

Scott Ave School has a principal who is wonderful and cares about all the students. Her first week as principal she made it a point to get to know all the kids by name. The teachers and the principal go above and beyond what is expected of them. There are many wonderful programs for the kids, both aiding in education and behavior towards other students. There is also alot of parent involvement.

Scott Avenue is an outstanding public school with dedicated teachers and challenging academics. We have had three children attend Scott, one currently. The leadership and quality of the principal and teachers is excellent. The Teachers really seem to care about there students. The extracurricular activities are limited in scope but what is available is fantastic. The play is the only fine arts program available. There is no music program but from time to time they will come up with a piano class, or an etiquette class. The bottom line is that there are a limited amount of resources available and I know the school attempts to allocate their funds where they deem best. This leads me into the parent involvement. It seems mediocre from the surface. I believe this area could improve.

Great teachers. I have twins that attended kindergarten 06. Both teachers showed they care, are very patient and keep parents well informed. Ms. Marquez nd Minasian were excellent.

Excellent school. I have two children that have attended 1st - 5th grades. My kids have had a positive and enriching education experience with both the teachers and the staff at Scott. Both of my kids receive mostly A's and a few B's and that is the direct result of the wonderful teaching staff. I rate this school with a high mark!

The teachers are great. The platoon teaching seems like a good theory, but moving the kids around stops them from having that important bond with one teacher. There is also less oppurtunity for parents to get information about their children's development because there are 3 people to communicate with. The website is great to use and most teachers pick up there messages timely. The homework is overwhelming about half of the days assigned and there are times my child didn't get enough instruction in math to do the homework correctly. The activities at Scott are wonderful, especially for Kinders. There could be a lot more of them, though. The teamwork between the teachers and the principal could be better.

I'm so pleased with the teaching, and curriculim at Scott Ave. We come from a local Catholic school and my kids were falling behind in academics until we put them in Scott Ave.

My daughter had a wonderful first year at Scott Ave (kindergarten). The curriculum was far more advanced than what I expected of kindergarteners. Being on SSC, the state budget is tough on the schools and teachers are expected to do more; these dedicated teachers and staff are even willing to pay for some school supplies themselves simply because there's not enough in the budget. Outside field trips are costly. The kindergarteners have Farm Day, their 'field trip' right at school (no worries about getting on a bus!) and parents are welcome and encouraged to participate. A wonderful school!!
