Glen A. Wilson High School Reviews

This school is great if your kid is in honors, IB , and Ap Classes. But if he's a regular student, move him out. He will achieve so much more at another school. And if he/she is in sports, forget about getting a scholarship at Wilson. Sadly this school caters to the Asian community. How many football students are Asian.?? 1 here. So if your kid is good at sports...Dont come to Wilson.. Look it up.. you will be disgusted.

This is one of the most overrated schools in America. It is regarded as the best in our district, but in fact it is one of the worst. 95% of students are too focused in school work, pushing away social life, making them, though intelligent, social rejects when they arrive at college. The school is always covered in trash, and the teachers there are good but incredibly strict and mean. The

My son attends and the classes geard for non-academics are hard to fit in with all the state required classes. High school shoul dbe a time of exploration for a student - not a stumbling block until college. My son is a straight A student, but it has taken some fancy manuevering and summer school to get all his A-F requirements for college as well as 4 years of Drama (his passion) into his schedule. Other interensts (like choir) have to be extra curricular sicne there is just no more room in his 4 year plan. Parent involvment is not solicited (no PTA-PTO), but as an active parent you can find ways to help and support that your kid will appreciate in the long run. In all, I am impressed by the Wilson teaching staff and Mr. Clegg will be sorely missed as principal.

If the student is motivated and hang out with the right group, they will do fine here. Wilson offers many AP, IB, and honor classes for those students who wanted to challenge themselves.

This year was my daughters freshman year. Although it was hard to adjust to high school all of the teachers have really made it any easy transition.

This school lacks many classes that other districts and schools has to offer. It does not have lockers, making students carry heavy books around during the day. It doesn't offer any advanced computer classes, which I think today is very important. It does not have a class called SRC (state required course) which is sex education and driver's rules. I transferred out after my first year at this school. Teacher wise, this school's teacher is excellent.

This is a great school that your son or daughter never regret to ever attend.

IB program is helpful toward students achieve goal of higher level classes such as college-credit classes. Not many elective classes as the other school, Los Altos. Music and Dance is the only emphasis but not as much. No funding for extracurricular activities. Parent involvement is poor. The 'beautification' is not so good either.

Wilson has been the flagship high school of the district for years. It has recently experienced a mass exodus of good young teachers leaving for many reasons (superintendant, principal, pay, etc) but many veteran teachers remain. A new principal from Monrovia seems to have energized the school and, while only time will tell if the school will change for the better or worse, parents are keeping a close eye on the changes, holding the district accountable, and are hopeful.

I attended here and know of others who now attend this fine High School. I can't wait till I can send my children to this school. The teachers are awesome and made learning not a chore but rather a great and fun environment. I am extremely pleased all around.
