Bonita Street Elementary School Reviews

The academic programs at this school are pretty good. I believe that they take time to spend on each subject matter in a fair way. However, I am not satisfied with the amount of homework given, I think that my child as a first grader can do more, and the work that he gets is quite simple and he has done more challenging work in Kindergarden (at a private school). At his grade level there is not much sports or music available, but I do see a lot of children that carry instruments to school. I would prefer that the parent involvement would be greater, by maybe the prinicpal, teachers, counselors & other staff making more programs available like parent group sessions.

Parent involvement is mediocre and the availability of music, art, sports, etc. is close to none. Academically, there are some teachers that truly challenge the kids and then there are some who leave it up to the parents to often teach their child; which is sometimes frustrating considering some of us haven't seen a math problem in many years.

Good school that needs more support from the parents and community.

My kids have attended Bonita Street School for about three years and I believe it has been a great experience for them. My son has attended Bonita since the 3rd grade and my daughter has attended since pre-K and all of their teachers have shown nothing but dedication and interest in my kid's education. I love the fact that this school is so culturally diverse.

My kids and I are new to this school. We absolutely love the teachers. They all seem to be committed to teaching the kids and to making the most of the classroom time and instruction. My son's 1st grade teacher noticed he was having a hard time adjusting to the new school. The teacher called us up over the winter break and invited us to the zoo. That really helped break the ice for my son. All the teachers at Bonita seem to be just as dedicated. I only wish there were more parent volunteers and that the administrative staff was more attentive.
