Carson Senior High School Reviews

this school is great but they have lots of ghetto people coming from other cities messing up the school and its education status.

I'm enjoying my experience at this school. I was a transfer from Dorsey High and I feel that Carson High school gave me the push I needed to excel in all my classes.

The teachers do whatever they want and don't really care about anything.. They don't teach properly. Enrolling in carson high was the worst mistake ever and they have very minimum ap classes!

My child attended private school before going to Carson High School. I was worried about the quality of the school and the environment at first, but not anymore. The school and students are great! I really can't tell the difference in how these students behave from the way the students did at the Christian private school, and the academics are challenging.

Academic program (Advanced Placement courses) availability is very well rounded and gives students with desires to excel to do so with the support of teachers and administration.

I am glad they have more college prep programs at this school. But they really need to cut down the population of how many students go to the school.

I am a graduate of Carson High School and I have many great memories, most from the marching band! All the teachers that I had were excellent and I have no complaints. Great atheletic programs and many different clubs/organizations to choose from, also, many different academic academies. The only experience that I was not too fond of was the fact that it was a kind of crowded school, but after a bit it's not a bother. All in all I think it's a great school with a bright future ahead (as it looks with the rise in test scores that I've seen.)

Carson High School has several outstanding programs. The Advanced Teacing Career Academy (ATCA) prepares students interested in becoming teachers. The Humanitas Program integrates the subjects of History, Art, and English to give students an interdisciplinary curriculum. The Advancement via Individual Determination (AVID) program encourages every student to strive for a post-secondary education. The Advanced Studies Academy (ASA) promotes self-motivation and thinking outside the box to encourage students to expand their world beyond the community of Carson. Carson High always has competitive athletic teams. The school annually contends for titles in football, basketball, baseball, softball, volleyball, tennis, and track. The music department is experiencing a rise in participation with the hiring of a new band director. The level of parent involvement has increased with the opening of the Parent Center which is housed on the campus. Students must take the initiative to become involved, and Carson has much to offer.

Carson High is known for being a 'ghetto' school. I don't agree, it just depends on how you look at things. There are several strong academic programs on campus which include Advanced Studies Acamemy, Humanitas, A.V.I.D., and Multilingual Teaching Academy. All four are very organized and help students that want to be helped. They include honors classes and they teach skills for colleges and prepare them for fields they might want to enter later in life. Music and art are scarce, but sports and clubs are big on campus. There are tons of clubs for whatever your interests or goals. Sadly, the most parent involvement seems to be arguing for there children, although there is a P.T.A. that helps alot, mainly with sports.

Caron is the best school the the LAUSD. Their academic programs for high achievers is very successful and makes me happy inside. Compared to most schools in the area, Carson has many extracurricular classes that satisfy every type of student. Parent involvement is super fantastic! This school rocks!
