Taper Avenue Elementary School Reviews

Very good program, but they push the kids to hard by giving hours worth of homework.

My daughter is in magnet program. She had a great year in Kindergarten and truly looking forward to first grade. The principal of the school is great, she is very approachable. We loved the kindergarten teacher and the first grade teacher.

my grandchilderen went to taper loved the school, teachers, pta. all thesupport you get from teachers.i was always there helping pta with candy drive, book fair, helping with progets in the classes. we moved to victorville in 2004 what a differents in schools. nothing like taper.we really missed taper. my daughter wanted to move back. last year they open a new school and now it better. more for the kids am very happy now getting involved.

School pride, many volunteers, great teachers, clean and well maintained grounds, family activites, adequite updates on children, Office worker are polite and helpful, Principle has love for the school, teacher and puts the kids first! Impressive and highly recommended!

Taper is great. I love how the teachers acknowledge students for their strides in improvments and reward them for doing great in their work.

I love the principal, teachers and other staff members here. They are truly dedicated, warm and wonderful.

Taper Avenue is a great school. I love the teachers and the principal is very responsive to parents questions and concerns. There is great parents involvement in activities and within the classroom. The valet program, art to grow on, the SAS program are also great programs at the school. The API score was fantastic last year due to the dedication of the principal and teachers to the school curriculum.

Teachers are quick to point fingers at students instead of working with them. The principal is nice, but has no authority over teachers and certainly not over the Magnet school. They recently spent money on a new playground, while it should have been spent on quality teachers.

Wonderful school, great teachers and administrators. The encourage parental involvement and have lots of sports/art/music programs.

Principal and administrative staff are wonderful. My child's 2nd grade teacher was excellent, 4th grade teacher, excellent so far. I agree with previous parent's comment about the Magnet Technology, technology is more than computers.

overall, taper is a good neighborhood school. there's a lot of parent involvement which is a big plus. academic standards are definitely higher in the last year or two which can mean more homework, but in the long run help the kids do better in the future. the good teachers do expect the parents to be involve in helping their kids succeed in school, i.e. make sure homework done in time.

This is a former blue ribbon school. I like the parent involvement and the principal is wonderful. They have some good teachers. I think the main struggle the school has is that there is a high population of students for whom English is a second language so this effects test scores, but I still like the school.
