Gant Elementary School Reviews

I can't say enough about this amazing school. From the moment you walk in the classroom or office, you are greeting with warm and caring people who are enthusiastic about creating the best learning environment for our kids. It isn't always about making our test scores, but about making responsible and caring young children. Programs always seem to be with the best interest of the students in mind. Bravo!

My daughter has had a wonderful experience thus far, and we look forward to sending our younger children to Gant as well. Everyone from the principal to the janitorial staff has been pleasant and helpful.

I absolutely love this school. My son is in Special Ed and the staff there go up and beyond to give my son the best possible education, even with all the obstacles my son has to overcome. He has excelerated more than I ever believed he would thanks to his teacher and his aids. They made him break out of his shell and thrive academically and socially.

I have had children at Gant for a while now. It has always had great academic programs, caring knowledgeable teachers, and excellent parent involvement which provides the little extras. But the current principal seems to be disorganized and not emphasizing the right things, so the morale of everyone at the school seems to be slowly falling down.

EXCELLENT school. Gant has the best teachers whom I value and thank for helping my children be who they are. They have the passion for school and specially for reading. I am so astonished how my 6 year old reads books with no problem. Our school has great parent involvement, everyone seems to want to get involved in improving the childrens' education. I see Gant Elementary not just as a school but like a second family because that is how parents, teachers and volunteers make the atmosphere feel like. I Love This School and wouldn't change it for anything.

I am so happy to have my daughters at Gant. It is hard to believe that it is as big as it is for it has such a quaint family atmosphere. Lots of parents who care and an amazing close group of teachers!

I have two children at Gant and my experience has been great. The teachers we have had have been amazing! I have to say their caring and communication with me ,as a parent, has been invaluable and I myself have learned a few lessons. Our new principle is very approachable, professional, and obiovusly cares about our school. Iam sure she cannot please everyone but her obvious intention is to do her best for Gant and Ihave no doubt that she will.

This school provides a great sense of community with the PTA, staff and students working together for the benefit of the kids. The PTA is highly funded with a large enough budget to cover salaries of the librarian, office assistant and computer lab instructor. Majority of the teachers are well-respected and loved by both the students and parents. The curriculum can be challenging, especially in the fourth and fifth grade levels, but students have survived. Don't waste your money on private schools and the mandatory requirements. Opt instead, to donate occasional funds for the various PTA fundraisers and attend the monthly meeting to help decide how the money is to be spent to benefit your kids. Parent involvement is also the key and there are plenty of fun opportunities to join committees and to make long lasting friends.

Minnie Gant Elementary School is, in my humble opinion, the best school in all of Long Beach. The teachers here are wonderful and tremendously supportive of our children, with maybe 1 or 2 exceptions. The support staff are very helpful. The librarian is amazing in her ability to match children with books, and inspire them to grow in their reading. The only downside is the addition of our new principal, who is more about fluff than substance. But, if you are considering sending your child to Gant you will not be disappointed.

This school is a great school to be at, however, the principal is one of the worst this school has had. It's been the past principals and parent participation who made this school what it was.

Gant is the best school around! The teachers are fabulous and really know our kids. The addition of our new principal can only make it an even better experience. My boys look forward to school and it's because of the gant family!

Alot of parent involvement which is what makes this school work. Test
