Teachers and staff are very supportive and treat students with respect. This school has great programs like A.V.I.D which gets students motivated to attend college and obtain a career. Academic wise, Jefferson offers an outstanding learning environment as a result of its single gender configuration. The professional and dedicated staff and teachers at Jefferson are always willing to help students out with any extra help they may need. Overall, staff tries their best to maintain the school campus clean and safe for students. Jefferson is not a school for dummies as some parents think; it is an excellent school that offers a great education for those students that take advantage of it. Students are not supported at home and homework is not a priority to the students because of this lack of support. This lack of academic support carries over to many of the students and they do not understand the value of having an excellent education, which is offered at this school. The faculty and teachers seem to be supportive to the children, however, i think they just have too much to do. Long Beach really needs to focus on these schools that need help. The sad thing is that my daughter thinks that she is a 'dummy' because she was sent to jefferson and not accepted to one of the other 'smart' schools (stanford, rogers, hill). Something needs to change.
