Our son attented his elementary years here all throughout and he is now in Middle School and was identified as GATE student. This school strongly empahasizes on Academic Excellence . They have an over all high Test ratings at all times. They prepare your child to be better students when they come out of elementary. It is a Distinguished Blue Ribbon Recipient and they stand for it every year and we as parents couldn't be more proud! The rigor just isn't there for 4th-5th grade teachers. The 4th and 5th grade teachers seem to use the same lesson plan for all children as through every students succeeds at the same rate and level. My son was always told to do his homework in the 4th grade every single day when he breezed through the classwork--the same thing is going on, now, in 5th grade. They have an excellent staff and program for the students. Some cutbacks in extra-curricular and in support staff expected in 2005. Many moms walk their kids to school and you see alot of parents waiting with their kids in the courtyard for the bell to ring. Also, waiting list for kids to transfer from the surrounding areas is very long. Many don't make it in. I think this is one of the most beautiful schools in the area. The quality of teachers is above average at each grade level, in the gifted program and in the regular classrooms. The teachers set high achievement goals for the children but help the kids reach these goals. The teachers are enthusiastic and receptive to parents concerns.
