Walter Knott Elementary School Reviews

My boy is in gifted program at Walter Knott and I'm very impressed with his teacher and the school. Everything it is perfect for my kid. The teacher is a wonderful person, very involved school stuff, nothing to complain about, very nice people. I love the school and I'm glad my son has this opportunity.

So far I have been fairly impressed with this school. my son has been attending there this year only and I am impressed with how well he is learning to read,

I am a parent that in the past was very involved with the school. The Teachers are great and the office staff is wonderful. The Principal on the other hand is very distant from the students and parents at the school. Her lack of involvement seems to set the tone for students as well as parents. The School is very good with their kids but they continue to have mixed classes in almost every grade, I as a parent do not know how the students benefit from this. It is a shame that with such good Teachers that the kids have to be in mixed classes. My kids have been in Walter Knott since kindergarten and since the new Principal has come to the school it seems we lack and carnivals or special events that we once shared.

Walter Knott School has been so great to my son! The staff is so helpful and his teacher is amazing! She always has an open door policy and is very easy to speak too. This is his first year there and I want him to continue there for the rest of his Elementary Education. They have great fundraisers, activities, and parent involvement. Thank you!

My child is new this year and loves her teacher. I am a little disappointed with the principal. As a parent I am very involved in what goes on in my child's classroom and a few others also. Most of the teachers are stupendous. Parents could stand to spend more time in the classrooms esp at this critical learning time as kindergarden. Music man prog is great! Glad to be at Walter Knott.

I think Walter Knott is a wonderful school, the staff (not just teachers) are very friendly and always willing to help. My daughter started Kindergarten there last year (now in 1st) and I helped her teacher on a daily basis. I even went as far as working at lunch time with the kindergarten on the playground. It is not only a great place for kids to learn and grow it is also a great place to work! We have a marvelous GATE program, music man program, and meet the masters program (art). We do have an OK level of parent involvement, we could always use more! I am the Carnival chairperson and am planning a carnival for next Fall!

As a parent of one autistic child and another daughter with some learning challenges, I find that the school and teacher's hands are tied. They do the best they can or know how. Learning materials are standard and rarely break from national standards. There is nothing outstanding here, just above average (Good people trying the best they can). I fault the district for not addressing the real problems. Too many kids per teacher and 4-6 bad teachers per school in the district. Getting the district to change anything is like trying to get an act of congress. Good luck and best wishes.

There are some Walter Knott Parents that are starting to become more and more involved. This one terrific father organized a lunch time flag football league. He also created neat signs for the parking lot and around campus. We would love to have a school carnival this year and all we need is a group of parents that would like to help and organize this. Parents also help organize the sixth grade camp fundraiser which always is a big hit. The kids at Walter Knott are also super. Every presenter says that our kids are the best behaved. They have such positive character, and love to help each other out. The teachers are awesome too.

My two oldest children have attended this school for the past two years. They have had excellent teachers. One of them is in the RSP program and has made progress. As a parent, seeing the comments about needing more parents to be involved, I have to say that there aren't many opportunities for parents to do anything. I have offered to help out in my children's classrooms both years and I was turned down. I have two smaller
