Occs:chep/PCHS Reviews

CHEP has been such a blessing to our family. When we decided to homeschool our children we were nervous about regulations and legal requirements. Chep has been a wonderful support. I am in my second year with chep and teaching my kindergartener and second grader. The teacher support and extra classes offered is wonderful. I really can't say enough about Chep! Where would I be without our teacher support? They are full of ideas and encouragement. Four sites in Orange County allow us to choose the home site that is closest, but we are able to participate in extra offered classes and support from any of the four sites. This is a quality homeschool option for parents and teachers from all backgrounds! I do wish there were more classes offered for socializing.

This has been great for my 3rd grader. She is learning at an advanced level with personal attention that she would never have in a regular school.

The K - 8 and 9 - 12 grade parts of the program are separate and work differently. Both provide support for the involvement of families. The K - 8 program allows a lot of flexibility and freedom for the parent to plan schedules, while the 9 - 12 grade portion is separated into individual courses and assignments taught by teachers. The high school online classes are great because they foster research skills and time management. However, it is a disappointment that the high school does not have honors, APs, and other classes that allow high school students to be a competitive applicant for universities. For example, students who want advanced levels of foreign language (they have up to Spanish 2), chemistry, and physics, have to take a course on their own elsewhere. On the other hand, they do offer 6 courses through Coastline College that allow students to work ahead.

They are a great liason when you choose to homeschool. The teachers and staff are helpful and caring. The curriculum that is provided is sufficient. The workshops and fieldtrips offered are great!

My son is in first grade. We started with CHEP after we got a very negative attitude at his public school. He has achieved more from this school in 5 months then he ever could at his last school. He is doing up to 3rd grade work, loves his teacher and the staff as do I. Everything and everyone has been very positive. I would recommend this school to everyone and have. My son's over all attitude has changed 100% he's happier, friendlier to others and looks forward to doing his school work and going to classes at CHEP.
