La Veta Elementary School Reviews

La Veta is a good school with an excellent GATE program. The school facilities have recently been painted including colorful murals and are in good shape. The school atmosphere is very upbeat and positive, and Mrs. Dahlquist is an excellent principal and one of the school's greatest assets.

Great school, great teachers, great administration, great PTA. Very pleased. Wouldn't want to be anywhere else!

Our oldest daughter transferred to La Veta from a nearby private school that she had attended since pre-school. She is currently in the 5th grade GATE program and is being challenged academically in many more ways. The 3 GATE teachers are exceptionally strong at teaching their specialties and seem to take a vested interest in each student. We have noticed a remarkable difference in our daughters studying skills, depth of knowledge, and comprehension of the material she is learning in all of her classes. She has always possessed a 'natural' ability to excel in school, however this GATE program is so strong that our 'A' student is now 'working' for B's and A's. We have also noticed a difference in our daughters desire to learn more and her enjoyment of school. I would strongly recommend this school's program for students who need more challenge in their academic studies.

I love this school! My daughter is on an intra-district transfer and I would pick this school over all others. Their test scores are outstanding. The teacher to student ratio is perfect. The principal and the staff are stellar! a+ I come from a family of educators and base my feelings about schools & their staff on how I am treated by the school staff. This group of people are by far the best! Very attentive & caring (for the students, staff and parents). Mrs. Dalquist is a friendly and wonderful principal whom cares for every one of her students.

The facilities are old and in need of upkeep. The staff seem to be very enthusiastic and helpful. The GATE program seems especially strong based on the teachers and principal.

My daughter entererd La Veta in Dec 2004 and so far it has been a very positive experience. She transferred from a private school and the transition was easy. The principal at La Veta was very courteous and helpful with lots of information about her school. I witness the respect and the caring she had with all the children on campus. I am very glad I placed my daughter at La Veta.
