Mission Viejo High School Reviews

A great public high school for academics, sports, extracurricular activities. There is positive pressure to succeed and the counselors do a good job of keeping the students on track with the right mix of classes. As with many public schools, it is caught up in the State of CA budget crisis, which can impact the breadth of classes/programs offered.

Mission Viejo high school has excellent, diverse offerings for students with widely varying interests. Among the best programs are the IB Diploma, marching band, football, drama, the farm and many others. These programs keep teens interested in going to school.

I Love Mission Viejo high school! The teachers are tough, but great. I am a freshman, and one of my favoirte teachers is Mr. Smith for geography. Mission is a great school and very safe environment. I would reccomend it for anyone! Go Diablos!

My son graduated from Mission in '05, and is beginning his 2nd year at Harvard. Our experience with the school, from the Principle, the Humanities courses, IB, and athletics was outstanding. He feels like he was well-prepared for the Ivy League. I currently have 2 other children there..and feel like there is a variety of opportunities for all levels of student, as well as the wide variety of clubs and programs.

This school has wonderful academic programs. At schools such as Trabuco Hills High school, the science program is not nearly as accelerated. My son is very interested in science, especially physics and chemistry, and this causes him great joy. At Mission Viejo High School, you can choose between four AP science classes, two AP math classes, and a number of AP history and english classes. At Trabuco, they only have 3 AP science classes (which can only be taken during your senior year, while at Mission Viejo you can take them in your Junior AND Senior years) and one AP math class. Extracurricular activites are also in abundance, but parent involvement could be better.

As a freshman, my child has been given many opportunities at this school. The academics, especially the advanced classes, have been exactly what he needed. The music program is outstanding. The school is widely known in the area for it's great sports programs, but that is not all that it offers: AP/honors classes, IB program, and E-core classes(electronic learning classes). The students at this school are accepting of all students, wether they are smart, athletic, musical, or average students trying to get through high school. I would reccomend this school to anyone moving into the area. I would reccomend this school district, Saddleback Valley Unified School District, SVUSD.

This is a great school. The academics are great also.

Outstanding music and drama programs - top notch instruction that teaches the art and the discipline needed to exceed. Great teachers. Parent involvement is great within the different sports/arts programs. No participation really at a higher level.

This is an excellent school, great athletics department and great education

Outstanding International Baccalaureate program. Strong Model U.N. tradition. Athletic powerhouse, particularly in football. Great marching band. School's modernization is just being completed, so facilities are very nice. The school is large enough so that it features something for everyone. Even has a small farm on campus, complete with animals. There is a lot of opportunity at Mission--but on't expect a lot of guidance since the school has only two counselors, and I have not been pleased with their service and guidance. I chose my house because it was near this school, though, and I'm glad I did.
